When people hear the name "MYiA" or "Myanmar Youths in Action", they used to think about environment. Most people understand that our organization is working only on environmental activities. That is true, we have started our youth participation program with environmental activities. However, our main goal is to educate and encourage the young people from Myanmar to actively contribute in development activities. In this regard, we will conduct every projects that will directly (or) indirectly advantage the youths and community.
On 18 March 2012, we organized a small workshop on HIV and Reproductive Health led by our members Dr.Khayae Htun and Dr.Phyo Naing Zay. According to our customs and cultures, many young people are shy to discuss on this issue and have little knowledge than expected. In rural areas and even in urban universities, young girls have to face unwanted pregnancy, abortion and sexually transmitted diseases. Even though there are many NGOs focusing on this issues, we still need more programs and activities for youths. MYiA, as a youth development organization, starts health program in 2012.
During our workshop, the participants and two facilitators discussed openly about reproductive health and its consequent problems.
