Draft Agenda for Youth Camp @ Inle Lake

Every year, Myanmar Youths in Action organizes youth camps so that youths can gain more knowledge, increase interaction, and to encourage youths to take part in social works. For this year, we have planned the youth camp to be at Inle Lake from January 4 to January 6, 2013. 

This evening, we will be leaving for Youth Camp @ Inle. We are all excited because of this will be a great chance for youth exchange between Inle and Yangon youths.

Below is the draft agenda:

Thursday, January 3rd
- will leave from Aung Mingalar Highway Bus Stop at 5:30pm
- Bus Name: Thit Sar Oo

Friday, January 4th
- Reach Nyaung Shwe in early morning
- Have breakfast, Take Rest
- Go to Inle directly, tour around Inle
- Spend the night in Inle

Saturday, January 5th
- Eat breakfast in Inle
- Youth Exchange Program with youths from Inle
- Trash Picking Campaign at Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda
- Visit floating tomato farms and meet with the tomato farmers
- Go back to Nyaung Shwe and spend the night there

Sunday, Janaury 6th
- Eat breakfast in Nyaung Shwe
- Evaluation Workshop in the morning
- Go to the Hot Spring
- Come back to Nyaung Shwe and tour around the city
- Go back to Yangon

You will need the below items for the trip:

1. Blanket
2. Towel
3. Coffe cups (if you're a coffee drinker)
4. Tooth brush + tooth paste
5. Thick sweaters
6. NRC Card

Myanmar Youths Conference 2012

International Youth Day is celebrated every year on August 12. This year's slogan is: "Building a Better World, Partnering with Youth."

Myanmar Youths in Action has celebrated this day since 2010 by holding a Myanmar Youths Conference every year, so this year, we will be holding "Myanmar Youths Conference 2012" at UMFCCI on Sunday, August 12, 2012. The panels that will be discussed at this conference will be Interfaith, Education, Peace and Youth Leadership. The speakers for these 4 panels will be youths from all walks of life.

We are also inviting youth speakers for Myanmar Youth Conference 2012. Please send us your application with your speech to info@myia.asia. Please note that the speech cannot exceed 10 minutes.

2nd Anniversary Donation to Seik Phuu Taung Youth Development Centre

Two years may seem like a short period of time for some, but for Myanmar Youths in Action, it has been a meaningful and fruitful two years. Since being established in 2010, Myanmar Youths in Action has continuosuly done many activities benefiting youths, but we are still unsatisified and feels that we can do more. Thus, we will be continuing with our efforts to do more youth development activities and walking ahead in unity and with green steps, matching our slogan: "Be United, Go Green!" until eternity!

June (5) 2012 will be Myanmar Youths in Action's anniversary day, and it is also World Environment Day. Last year, we celebrated the event by planting over (700) trees. This year, we will be going to Seik Phuu Taung Youth Development Centre, and will be celebrating our anniversary together with over 700 students there.

1. Donate school uniforms for the students
2. Donate stationery
3. Have an educational session on trash and environment

Those who want to do their part in our activity are very welcomed to make contributions.

Volunteering at Shwe Phone Pwint Pagoda

May 5, 2012 was Kasone Full Moon Day, also known as "Buddha's Day". That day is known as Buddha's Day because Lord Buddha was born, achieved enlightenment, and died on that full moon day.

Myanmar celebrates this day with a festival where pilgrims pour water on the Bodhi Tree (Bo Tree) in pagoda compounds, known as "Kasone Water Pouring Festival on Bodhi Tree". It is to keep the tree alive during the hot summer season. 

This year, Myanmar Youths in Action volunteered at the Kasone Festival at Shwe Phone Phwint Pagoda, in order to help pilgrims with their water pouring by arranging the pots with fragrant water and thapyay leaves. Many members of Myanmar Youths in Action , and volunteers participated in this event.

Photo Diary: Youth Camp @ Chaung Thar Beach 2012

Myanmar Youths in Action had organized Youth Camp @ Chaungthar Beach 2012 from January 6 to January 8, 2012. The purpose of the youth camp was to research on the practice of litter throwing behaviours of visitors, hotels, villagers, and restaurants/hawkers at Chaungthar Beach.

There were a total of 23 participants. This photo diary shows our activities at the youth camp.
